Sailing Around The World

Sailing Around The WorldDubai Ports World is responsible for looking after a large number of cargo ships Sailing around the world. It is one of the planet’s largest operators of deep sea ports and container facilities. Set up in 2005, when Dubai Ports Authority joined forces with Dubai Ports International, the company was handling 46.8 million TEU per year by the end of 2008.

A truly global entity, Dubai Ports World allows ships Sailing around the world to transport goods between Europe, Africa, Australia, Canada, the Middle East and Asia. After the company bought Peninsula and Oriental in 2006 it briefly owned operations in the US. However, due to an outcry by congress that an Arab owned company would have access to US ports, Dubai Ports World disposed of its P&O holdings in the US.

The marine port operator plans to increase the number of facilities for container vessels Sailing around the world over then next decade. It is currently developing 11 projects and already has 50 in operation.

Although Dubai Ports World gave up its interests in the US it has important operations to the north, in Canada, and to the south in countries including the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Argentina. It is also developing facilities at the Port of Callao, in Peru.

Other developments will soon see ships Sailing around the world able to deliver cargo to ports in India, at Vallarpadum and Kochi, in Turkey, at Yarmica, and in Vietnam, at the Saigon Premier Container Terminal, in Ho Chi Minh City.
